Marie & Levi’s Engagement Session at Daniel’s Park

I was so excited when Levi and Marie asked me to be their wedding photographer! Not only do I adore Marie’s family, but when I met Levi I could tell right away that he was perfect for Marie.

Apparently she thought so too, because she knew the first night she met him that he was the one. But, like so many of us, she thought it was too good to be true so she kept that thought a secret for a month before sharing it with anyone.michelewithonel_colorado-daniels-park-sanctuary-wedding-photographer_3047michelewithonel_colorado-daniels-park-sanctuary-wedding-photographer_3012
When I shot Levi and Marie’s engagement portraits at Daniels Park, I asked the usual questions: how they met (online), how he proposed (on Pike’s Peak) and oh! — {stops to catch breath} — that ring!! Did she pick it out, or did he?

Well, not only did Levi select Marie’s engagement and wedding ring, but he bought it years before he even met her!

When I asked him why, Levi said purchasing the ring earlier helped him wait patiently for the right woman. “It was a symbol that I have saved something beautiful and precious for the woman who was to be my wife. It helped me pray for her and served as a reminder that she was out there waiting for me as well.”

Here’s what Levi loves about Marie (and the reason she is wearing his ring):

Her patience, kindness, steadfastness, and unmovable commitment. Levi said he has never met anyone with such devotion to love as Christ loved!

Marie’s beauty, inside and out. When he first met her online, he thought she was gorgeous, but when he met her in person, he realized she was even prettier than he knew!

Her day-to-day joy and love of life. Not only is she committed to speaking in love and grace, but she delights in the small moments together as well as the grand adventures!

And oh, there is so much more, but I need to spend some of this blog post sharing what Marie loves about Levi:

His transparency and openness about his faith. He is incredibly serious about his walk with Jesus — in fact he shares openly about it, including struggles and challenges, because he knows God opens doors to share his faith often when people see our humanness. Levi is dedicated to worship and ministry through a local church and various outreaches, which is so important to Marie because those things matter most to her too.

The twinkle and fun in his eyes! He makes her feel completely safe and at home with him. She’s comfortable in his stability and unafraid to be completely herself. Isn’t that what we all want in our marriages? It’s the perfect picture of Christ and his bride!

The fact that Levi embraces Marie’s family as is own — which is so important because Marie considers her family her best friends. I might also add that the feeling is mutual — Marie’s family adores Levi and is so excited about having another son.

I can’t wait for their fall wedding with, oh, just 200 of their closest family members and friends. Their wedding is going to be beautiful but their marriage is what will truly be the most beautiful of all.
