Hugh & Stefanie’s Folsom Field Engagement Session

What happens a CU-Boulder football player decides to marry a CU-Boulder cheerleader? They fly in from Texas to have their engagement photos taken at the newly remodeled Folsom Field!

Hugh and Stefanie met at CU, where Hugh majored in sociology and played football on full scholarship. (Hugh still has lunch with his scholarship donor and is so incredibly humble and grateful for his support. In fact, he was going to have lunch with him after our session.)

Stefanie was a gymnast and a cheerleader, and she taught gymnastics to lots of little girls — many who Stefanie still keeps in touch with and who are now graduating from high school.

Hugh adored Stefanie right from the start — and so he set out to make her his best friend. (Hugh is a wise man!)

After being best friends for a couple of years, these two started dating, then continued their relationship long distance after college while Hugh played for the CFL and Stefanie headed up a radiology clinic in Fort Worth, Texas.

They are getting married next year at the former home of George Strait, and I already know it will be an amazing celebration!MicheleWithOneL_ColoradoEngagementPhotographer_Hugh&Stefanie_0514MicheleWithOneL_ColoradoEngagementPhotographer_Hugh&Stefanie_0497
I can’t stop swooning over the way these two look at each other! They made so easy to capture how much they love and respect one another.

After spending time in the football field Hugh and Stefanie knew so well, we headed down to Pearl Street Mall for a change of scenery.

Even Chip — their big dog in a little dog’s body — traveled to Colorado to be part of family photos!

My only regret during this e-sesh was that I didn’t capture Hugh and Stefanie doing backflips at the same time, their signature move.

They told me about the shot after they had already changed out of their jeans, but still I blame myself — because, you know, I always ask all my couples if they’d like me to photograph them doing backflips together. ;)MicheleWithOneL_BoulderEngagementPhotographer_Hugh&Stefanie_0324MicheleWithOneL_ColoradoEngagementPhotographer_Hugh&Stefanie_0453
Special thanks to CU’s Athletic Grounds Director Ryan Newman for all of his help in making this day happen. Also thanks to the Jackalope Trading Company on Pearl Street, who made sure we had a CU football when we needed one.
